India's Uttarakhand state includes the district of Haridwar. After travelling 250 kilometres from its source in Gaumukh, the Ganges enters this location in India.
People travel from all across India to Haridwar to do pilgrimages and to bathe in the sacred Ganges River.
On the hills known as Chardham, there are four sacred temples: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The entrance to this Chardham is Haridwar.
Ayurvedic medications and herbal cures can be found in abundance in Haridwar. The teaching of "Gurukula," a distinctive Indian tradition, is practised at Haridwar.
Additionally, Haridwar is one of the four locations where the Kumbh Mela takes place after a 12-year rotation and the Ardh Kumbh after a 6-year rotation.
According to legend, Amrit (Elixir) drips were believed to have fallen into Har-Ki-Brahmkund, Pauri's causing people to take a dip in the Brahmakund.
Although the town has a temperate climate all year round, November to March is the best season to visit Haridwar because of the nice, chilly weather.
The city has excellent road and rail connections to other important North Indian cities like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, etc. Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the closest airport.
Haridwar is one of the most significant pilgrimages in India and draws many visitors each year. You can go to and take part in the well-known evening Ganga Aarti.
