Even though this is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and paddling, you can still find some peace and quiet during the slower times of day.
The months of April through October are ideal for hiking this trek. Dogs are permitted, but they must be leashed.
Hikers, campers, swimmers, and boaters all enjoy Wawayanda's tranquil charm. Canoeists, boaters, and fishermen will find Lake Wawayanda to have a tranquil backdrop of forested hills.
The park is traversed by a 20-mile section of the Appalachian Trail, and Wawayanda Mountain's summit provides breathtaking views. The park has defined pathways that total more than forty miles.
Three group campsites with clivus restrooms are available; a seven-person minimum is required. Water must be brought from the main office building because it is not supplied at the campgrounds.
Visitors can swim at Lake Wawayanda from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day when lifeguards are on duty. The hours for swimming are 10 am to 6 pm.
