Since over 500 years ago, the historical Kankaria Lake, which has a perimeter of about 2.5 km, has served as a representation of Ahmadabad.
The historical lake that surrounds the island garden known as Naginawadi has long been a favourite hangout for Ahmedabad residents.
It provided a whole amusement complex with the nearby Zoo, Balvatika, Aquarium, and surrounding hill gardens.
Given the chance, the lakefront's expansion was designed with amenities including a miniature train, food courts, walkways, linear gardens, and musical fountains.
The project cost Rs 360 million to finish in 2008. An entire entertainment complex was built around the lake.
Lake is growing as a venue for the various artist communities. Programs like fireworks, musical nights, & ultra-fast laser shows with sound draw visitors from various towns and states
Through a planned and thoughtful approach, the project was able to turn a chaotic area into a well-organized leisure zone despite numerous obstacles.
The lake was constructed during the Solanki era. There are numerous explanations for its genesis. According to legend, the lake was constructed near to the Kanmukhteswar Temple.
According to another legend, the lake gets its name from the goddess Kankana Devi. a more well-liked variation based on the current commemorative plate at the location
It was constructed in the 15th century by Sultan Kutubuddin Shah, whose work was finished in 1451. Its name is listed on this plate as Hauj-E-Kutub (Pond of Kutub).
Utilities have been improved, and the centre garden and walkway have been renovated. ______
After the renovations were finished, the lake was formally opened during the "Kankaria Carnival," a week-long celebration.
The second-largest lake in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, is called Kankaria Lake. It is situated in the Maninagar neighbourhood in the city's southeast.
