Matheran is a hill station in the Maharashtra state of India. It is the smallest hill station in India, and it is located in the Karjat Tahsil.
It's about 90 kilometres from Mumbai and 120 kilometres from Pune. Matheran is a popular weekend destination for city dwellers due to its proximity to several major cities.
Matheran has been designated as an eco-sensitive area by India's Ministry of Environment and Forests. It is Asia's only hill station without automobiles.
There are numerous viewpoint sites with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The forest cover at Matheran is fairly dense.
The town of Matheran is linked to the town of Neral, which is located at the foot of the hills. Neral is connected to Dasturi Naka, which is 9 kilometres from Matheran, by a tar road.
Matheran is noted for its good climate, beautiful scenery, numerous areas of interest, and clean environment. This is the spot to go if you're looking for a relaxing getaway.
Matheran is roughly 100 kilometres from Mumbai and 120 kilometres from Pune. It is located on the busy Mumbai-Pune rail line, with Neral being the closest train station (11km).
Matheran is a renowned trekking destination. Neral intersection is about 8 kilometres from Dasturi gate (Mathern car park). The nearest airport to Matheran is Mumbai.
Matheran is located in an elevation region with a cooler and less humid environment, making it a favourite summer destination. It is therefore necessary to pay a visit to this lovely location.
